  • Have YOUR say on the Waterfront
Consultants Smith Scott Mullan, who were hired by the Council last year, want to hear about issues that are concerning the people of Stranraer when it comes to the Waterfront regeneration project. Organiser Drew Mackie promised that the meeting would focus on current issues and not dwell on past consultations.
The workshop takes place at 7.00pm in the John Niven Centre, Lewis Street, Stranraer on Thursday the 22nd of January.
  • The Digital Switchover for our area will take place on the 24th of June 2009. If you would like any advice on how this will affect you and to find out what equipment you will require to continue your viewing, please call McKenzies Electrical Specialists in Stranraer on 01776 702818.
  • The Government has decided that 2,500 Post Office branches across the UK will close and Sheuchan Street Post Office in Stranraer has been one of those selected for closure.

We only have until the 29th of September 2008 (the end of the consultation period) to save this post office and we are asking everyone to print off the attached letter (Word document, 30kb) with the reasons why they want to keep the Post Office open and complete this with their name and address and send it to the following address:

    Save Our Post Office Campaign,
    Free Press,
    ST. Andrew Street,
    Stranraer,
    DG9 7EB

as soon as possible. We need to make as strong a case as possible to ensure that we can save this excellent business from closure.

Please ask everyone that you know to complete this letter and send it in - we only have a short time left to make a difference.
  • Drummore Bowling Club is approaching it's 100th Anniversary and as part of the celebrations are publishing a book on the history of the club over the last 100 years.
They are currently looking for any photographs that feature the club throughout the years for inclusion in their publication and if you have any, please contact Maureen on 01776 840 255.
